AKONet Trace structure (II)

Continuing with the description of our AKONet Trace structure, we are now to focus on its communication with plant´s DCS.

Communication between plant´s DCS and our AKONet Trace is carried out by AKO´s DUOWarm Trace´s gateway which splits both networks to a logical and physical level, customizing communication signals according to each installations´ requirements.

AKONet Trace allows user´s remote connection either accessing from the same network (LAN) or via internet (Firewall required), the only thing needed is a web browser and the correct authentication. With the right permit, it is possible to check the installation´s condition, download operations reports, get alerts or even modify its configuration, even when being miles away.

Depending on the size of the installation the system allows to create an AKONet Trace network splitting different control areas according to their needs. This requires including an additional AKONet Trace working as a Master, taking care of storing all the working reports from all areas and connecting them to the outside to be accessed remotely.

On our next post we´ll talk about self-regulating cables.

AKONet Trace Structure (I)

As we have previously stated, AKONet Trace is the software configuration management used in our AKOTRACE® electrical heat tracing´s installations. The software has been optimized to be used with touch screens, allowing its integration into Panel PC´s, so commonly used in the industrial sector.

Besides setting up tracing circuits and supervise its operations, it also oversees the cabinet status (temperature, the presence of tension, protection status, etc) triggering an alert in case any reading exceeds established limits. It is really helpful to implement the right preventive maintenance to the cabinet, avoiding major problems both on the panel and on the tracing´s installation.

Communications between AKONet Trace and cabinets are carried out through redundant rings (fiber optic o cable), which guarantees the availability of the system in case of an eventuality in any of the links.

In addition, even if communications fail, the system will keep on working thanks to its control devices (DUOControl Trace) which are totally autonomous and once they are set up, they don´t need AKONet Trace to work.

In our next post we´ll talk about how it communicates with plant´s DCS and the possibilities it offers regarding accessibility.

Areva Solar´s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflectors

AKO was recently awarded to work onAreva´s Solar Fresnel Technology Storage Project to be built at Sandia National Laboratories in the United States.
On our previous post we told you a little bit about the origins of Fresnel technology, now we are going to share how Areva Solar´s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflectors work, and for that what a better way to explain it than playing Areva´s own video.
